Female Reproductive Aging: From Consequences to Mechanisms, Markers, and Treatments
Duncan et al cover the health consequences of female reproductive aging, emerging treatments, the changes in ovaries and eggs that affect fertility and age at menopause, and many of the genetic, lifestyle and environmental factors that contribute to reproductive aging. A good place to start: this review has it all.
The Hallmarks of Aging
Lopez-Otin et al describe the key mechanisms that cause the body to deteriorate with time. This is a useful paper to begin to learn about the processes that are thought to drive aging. Many of these processes also contribute to female reproductive aging, albeit on a different time scale.
Ovarian Aging: Mechanisms and Clinical Consequences
Broekmans et al describe the various physiological and hormonal changes that characterize menopause. This review covers in detail the clinical implications of reproductive aging on fertility and the menstrual cycle and how they are measured. Open Source.
